MEET THE OWNERS

When building is in your blood, you pick up a few things along the way. Construction has been in our family since 1904, and we’re proud to be in our fourth generation of leadership. Here’s a little more about our owners:

Tim Spiegelglass - Spiegelglass Construction

Tim Spiegelglass, Owner

As the fourth-generation of Spiegelglass Construction, Tim grew up learning about construction at the breakfast table, and wreaking havoc as a child accompanying his father to various restaurant openings around town. But when he wasn’t causing trouble, what he remembers is seeing how grateful his dad’s clients were when they opened their doors. The concept of helping people open a business stuck with him, and to this day brings him tremendous pride. There’s just nothing like giving an entrepreneur the keys to her new shop, or helping a construction manager turn over a store to the local manager ahead of schedule. Excitement for the future is palpable; the possibilities are endless – and he loves being a small part of that story.

After spending some time in California working in the construction management industry, Tim joined Spiegelglass Construction in 2004 – the year of the company’s 100th birthday. He now co-owns the company and oversees all aspects of construction projects from site selection to project completion. He works with chains and entrepreneurs on all types of small and medium-sized commercial construction projects including ground up and interior finishes. He has been widely quoted in the media for his restaurant building expertise, and frequently writes contributing articles about restaurant construction. He is also a member of the Ladue School District’s Board of Education Facilities Planning Committee. Tim earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Southwest Missouri State University (Now Missouri State University). He is an avid St. Louis Blues fan, who was fortunate enough to be at Game 7 in Boston when his team clinched the Stanley Cup in 2019.

Barry Spiegelglass - Spiegelglass Construction

Barry Spiegelglass, Owner

With nearly 50 years of construction management experience under his belt, there isn’t much in the small to medium-sized commercial space that Barry hasn’t built. A modern event venue on a llama farm? Check. A restaurant inside the base of The Gateway Arch in St. Louis? Double check. Barry joined his father and brother at Spiegelglass Construction in 1972, and in those early years managed the construction for countless chains and regional shopping centers throughout St. Louis. He quickly became a sought-after expert for restaurant and retail construction and regularly receives calls from new business owners and repeat clients for his counsel on a project.

With an uncanny ability to visualize and anticipate what’s ahead, Barry has an intense appreciation for the work that goes into building from the ground up. For him, there’s nothing as gratifying as managing a construction project from start to finish. As he says often, “I’m lucky, I enjoy what I do.” And as his one of his clients said, “It’s hard to put into words the genuine appreciation I have for Barry’s input, expertise, guidance and friendship through what could have otherwise been a challenging process.” Barry graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Business. He loves to watch KU’s Jayhawks basketball team and cheers them on every chance he gets.
